8 Reasons Why I Hate Watching Korean Drama

Don't get me wrong, not because there are things I do not like about Korean Dramas, it doesn't mean I don't like them. I like watching them. It's just that… A'ryt just to make things simple, let's just say it's a love-hate relationship between me and these K-dramas. Lol

The other day, I started watching a Korean Drama again. It's actually been awhile since I watched one. I even forgot how it's like to watch one. Then, I got hooked watching the series, The Heirs. And while watching it, it occur to me! I remembered that despite hating some parts of it, I remember why I like watching them. But then, my side comments still top them all. Lol And so I wrote this entry. So here's my eight reasons why I hate watching them:

  1. It's very predictable.

Every Korean dramas have the same storyline. The guy's rich; the girl's poor. They're both strangers who met in a "weird" circumstance. They'll hate (or feel awkward to) each other at first but as time goes by, they'll start to like each other. The guy will first show his acts of kindness (in a denial way--- he'll do it yet questions his self why he's doing it); the girl will just act normal as if she's not noticing anything (also in a stage of denial). And to make things interesting, there will always be a second guy who'll like girl. And so it's a love triangle! But love prevails! Their feelings toward each other is just so strong that they'll start showing each others affection. So, the third party will be out of the story (sorry, dude). But, it's not yet their time to shine, the rich family will find out about their "relationship". They'll try, with all their might, to separate the couple. But, with such miracle, things will turn out a happily ever after. The end.

And to be honest, that's NOT JUST a storyline of every Korean Dramas. It's all over Asian Dramas! So yeah, it's not just you Korean pips.

  1. The guy is very controlling.

Okay dude, hold your horses! Sometimes it is cute for a guy to be controlling, but too much is not acceptable. They keep showing scenes where the guy will drag the girl (in surprise) from public (or anywhere). Okay, I know you're just trying to be nice/hero to her by saving her from that "horrific" person messing on her, but the way you drag her is just not right. And if it's not that scene, it'll be that the guy will be too demanding over things.

  1. The girl is too weak.

She's poor and get bullied (mostly by rich people).

She'll let him be. He'll drag her, fine by her. He'll nag her, fine by her. He'll hold her hands, hug her, kiss her, fine by her--- okay, granted, you like him. So stop pretending you don't like him! Ugh!

  1. Too slow. Too much cliffhangers.

I know it's part of the drama (this ain't just in Korea), but if you're about to go somewhere fast, don't stop, look, and listen. There's no train coming! (if so, you really need to run fast)!Just go! Camera is rolling, and I'm more curious of the next scene.

  1. The director said so.

There are just scenes when we know it's not gonna happen if the character is not just stupid. And there are just some scenes when it's not really happening in real life (maybe). (I know, this isn't just in K-dramas. Probably I should just have changed the title of this entry.lol)

  1. There are just some character(s) who really don't smile.

Girl, you're starting to look like robot. You may be the 'villain' of the story but you're still a human being! Even Ursula of the Little Mermaid smiles and laughs, and take note, she's not even human!

  1. A big gap between poor and rich.

I know nothing about Korean tradition, but in my view, they make poor people look poor-er.

And lastly, my favorite...

  1. Koreans make guys too feminine.

I admit, they're good looking men (most of them). But they make them too "cute" that they already start to look like lesbians. Most of the time, they even look more girly than me! Those hair, make up, outfits, and poses… I just can't stand them O_O Why? Why? Why? And please, guys, eat some protein and hit the gym! Get some muscles!

But as the saying goes… the more you hate, the more you love. Is it? LOL
