Wanderfeet: When In Thailand

It's been years since I went international (besides Philippines).
Last year, when I went home, I decided to surprise my mom to travel outside Philippines. It was a last minute decision and I was so clueless of where to go and what to do. All I knew was, there're elephants in Thailand! HAHA
I looked for a travel agency around the area when I was in the Philippines. And a week (or two) after that, we flew.

We stayed in Bangkok. And we're only there for a short visit.
Day 1
We were too early to check in so we just hang out in the hotel and had lunch.

That night, we went to see a show called Siam Niramit. It's a show depicting Thailand's historical and spiritual heritage. (Their stage is awesome!)

A short cultural dance before the main show.
Day 2
It's about the famous Floating Market, temple hunt, and elephant ride.

My mom, too happy holding a snake. LOL

We're kind of amused seeing a flying squirrel for the first time.

Happy treats while roaming around the Floating Market.

The famous sweet mango and sticky rice.

Temple of the Golden Buddha (Wat Traimit): Biggest standing Buddha in Bangkok

Saw this guy taking photo like that, so i copied him. Look at the result at the bottom. HAHA (not bad)

There was an elephant show. (To be honest though, I wasn't amused. I hated the fact that I paid to see animals perform before me and knowing what they're doing to them behind the scene.) I am sorry.
So, if you're to visit Thailand, make sure to visit an Elephant Sanctuary instead of the zoo. I just learned they have those there. Plus, you'll get to enjoy playing with them.

It's only a half-day tour so in the afternoon, we got to roam around the city.

It's like Green Hills of Manila.
We really didn't get to experience authentic Thai food in Bangkok because I wanted to play it safe since I was with my mom. Lunch time, we ended up going to the mall. LOL

The popular Papaya Salad that I didn't know it's spicy. HAHA
And while walking around the streets, we accidentally saw Hello Kitty House!

People say not to ride Tuk-Tuk because they'll rob you (over-priced) but we still did -- just to get the experience! Lol

I really wanted to see the night market along the streets of Bangkok, but I chose to bring my mom in a dinner cruise instead to get a better "vibes".

The boat we had had 3 floors, we got seated on the 2nd floor (we hoped to be seated on the roof deck, but it didn't happen).
It was pretty good in the beginning. The place looked decent inside. A lot of food choices in the buffet and a performer was singing while eating. But in the middle of it, the performer started singing "unromantic" songs that the place started to look like a cabaret. And people started dancing all over the floor. It's just wasn't a fine dine I was expecting. So I decided to bring my mom on the roof deck to check it out. Man! It's way more decent; it looked and sounded way more fine dine. The performer's even singing acoustic; that made the ambiance way different from the second floor! Even the old White couple on the same floor from where we seated went up stairs to have a better experience. They looked disappointed as we were on the second floor.
But, over all, it was still a good experience. (But I think my mom didn't appreciate the city that much; should have brought her to the beach instead. LOL) But, still saw her happy. And I'm happy, when she's happy. Plus, we got to spend time together. That's the most important.
