It's all about food!
For someone who lives 30 miles away from Los Angeles, I'm pretty sure most people who live farther than I am know more about LA than I do.
Don't get me wrong, I love LA. It's one of the most versatile and one of the most famous city in the world-- Hollywood duh! Aside from Hollywood, it offers a variety of food choices and delicacies. But… there's always a downside, it's always traffic in LA.
My friend who lives in New York happened to fly here (out of a whim) to California to visit us. And for someone who doesn't go out much, I think I was more excited than him on trying out food and wander around the city of LA. Lol
Day 1. The arrival.
It's pretty funny how this whole day turned out. And it had something to do with flight delay, miscommunication and traffic.
My friend's arrival was supposed to be 3:30PM. Then it got delayed for 2 hours. We were expecting him to arrive 5:30PM… so as we thought. Only to find out, my friend was referring to NY time (cause time zone!) Fun times! lol

There I was hanging out at Starbucks all by myself waiting for my friend's arrival 5:30PM... only to find out his arrival's at 7:30 PM. HAHA

Hae Jang Chon KBBQ
After picking up our friend from the airport, we went straight to eat Korean BBQ. The wait was long. It was pretty packed. For 6 people, it took us 2 hours to get seated... to think it was a Wednesday.
One of our friend (who supposed to meet us up but ended up not going) recommended this place because of the unlimited prime rib.

Mr. Boba
We, Californians, call it "boba" while New Yorkers call it "bubble tea".
There's a boba place next to the KBBQ. We decided to get some boba and hang out there...
Jenga time!

Day 2. Pig day!
1. Eggslut at Grand Central Market
It always has a long line. But for someone who has a lot of free time, the wait wasn't so bad.

Sausage, Egg & Cheese$7.00. House-made turkey sausage, over medium egg, cheddar cheese and honey mustard aioli in a house-made bailey biscuit
The meat's actually very tender and juicy, which I believe is why this place is very hip. But, it's a little bit salty for my taste. (It's sausage so what do you expect?)
2. Kabayo(Korea Town)
I first learned about live octopus on a video I found on Facebook. I thought it ONLY exists in Japan! I was ecstatic when my friend told me that we have it in LA, too.
It's pretty hard grabbing the tentacles from the plate. And when you put it in your mouth, it kinda tickles your tongue. But, of course, once you bite it, it stops. To be honest, it wasn't bad. It's slimy (of course) but it doesn't have the fishy taste when you eat it. They covered it with salt, so I think that helped it a lot.
3. Chocolate Chair
The main reason why my friend visited LA (besides seeing us-- I think) was because he wanted to try the Nitrogen ice cream ("yung ice cream na umuusok"). In his defense, they don't have it in NY.
The Dragon's Breath is pretty mediocre (the taste) for me. It's fun, but it's just like eating a fruity Cheetos that's cold and gives you a cold breath whenever you chew or breathe.
4. Santa Monica Pier

We originally went here for sight-seeing and walking --- so we can digest the foods we ate. But, of course, I can't leave the place without grabbing some food!

A short fun ride at Santa Monica Pier.
5. DK's Donut
We're all full. This was actually on our checklist but totally forgot about it after leaving Santa Monica Pier. But fate was in our favor. On our way to Crumbs & Whiskers, we saw it!
The main reason why… because ube donuts!

6. Crumbs & Whiskers
It's a cat cafe! I was so excited the first time I heard that there's cat cafe in LA!. But I didn't know we need to make reservation to get in, so it was a fail. lol We didn't get the chance to play with the cattos (cats). :(

7. Potato Corner
This was the point where we're all full but we still pushed ourselves to eat just cause…it's pig day! We're all in this together! HAHA

Waiting for our fries. Pacol (in the middle) looks like he's not having fun anymore. He doesn't look impressed. haha
8. Tsujita
Ah! The lovely ramen. It's now on my favorite list. My cousin recommended this, and she def hit the nail on the head on this one. I keep calling this "deeping ramen" cause you have to deep the noodles in the broth. And everything about it is just so good. I mean, I was still full when I ate this and I still managed to finish 3/4 of my bowl.

Char Siu Tsukemen $14.95. Tsukemen topped with char siu (slices of barbecued pork)
9. BJ's
The day's almost over. And it won't be complete without alcohol and 'chismis'.

10. Karaoke
The last hoorah!

Day 3. The departure
In & Out
It was a very short but sweet 3 days in LA. But visiting California won't be complete without indulging the famous In & Out burger!

'Till next time!
I think I just gained 10 lbs.
